Andy, Randy, and Sissy
New capuchins have arrived - Andy, Randy, and Sissy. The owners drove them through from Alabama so they could spend their lives in an enclosure with other capuchins.
Andy and Randy were both intact, so they were kept in quarantine until their vasectomies could be done, then they were kept two more weeks away from the females. Now they are part of the original -- three female, one male group, making a family unit of eight. Three are males and five are females. Everyone is getting along wonderfully, even though they are all from different backgrounds.
Introducing eight capuchins and having harmony is a great feat. No one got hurt and, although the two males and Sissy have to be seperated at feeding time due to food aggression, they are all content together. Lots of grooming is going on. The older established females of the group have several bald patches due to the new boys not having grooming finesse - it's more of scratch and pull instead of smooth out and move to a new spot.
