| Indigo, a rhesus macaque, was born into research at Cal State Davis and was sent to the Salk Institute in Lo Jolla, California. He was released from research in 2002 when he was nine years old. Indigo is handicapped and does not have the use of his legs but he manages to get around his enclosure by using ramps and poles. Indigo is housed alone for his own safety but he has visual and vocal contact with his primate neighbors. | |||||||||||||||||
