Missybelle was given sanctuary because she was a pet but not neglected. Just the opposite. She was kept and cherished for 7 years, but she was getting so aggressive the owner was concerned she was depressed from being alone so much. Both parties worked all day. It is difficult to find a sanctuarie that will cater to the primate part, and also to the humanized part. Missybelle is housed with our pet store rescue, another Java, named Phoebes. They are a perfect match. They enjoy food sharing and grooming one another. Missy is totally dependent on her friend Phoebus for her attention, and needs no human intervention other that bringing food, and cleaning the cage and her house. She is a messy housekeeper, she throws her peanut shells everywhere. Missybelle passed away in her sleep in February of 2003 of a heart attack. She is missed. |
