Rowdy was a 14 year old blackcap hybrid, when he arrived in 2000. His photo shows how difficult it was to capture a picture of him. Rowdy was owned for 14 years by a man who said when he left Rowdy here, that it was like giving up his son. Rowdy was loved but he was being neglected due to a remarriage and the monkey not liking the new wife. When Rowdy was introduced to three blackcap females, he was a bit intimidated as he had never seen one monkey, much less three.The girls were of course thrilled to see Rowdy, even though Rowdy was a neutered male, just being a male was enough. They take turns grooming him and of course what more could a monkey ask for? For the first time in 14 years Rowdy was free to climb a tree, run, tumble and no leash restraining him or cage confining him.. Another happy ending to an ex pet situaton. One addition here - Rowdy has some irreversible habits of biting himself and slapping his head, from the many years of frustration, being confined in a pet situation. When the owner asked me why he did this, and I explained, he said how sorry he was, but he did not know. |
