Conservation Status Ranks

  • Lower Risk
  • Data Deficient - not enough information to determine a species status.
  • Rare - species has a small world population, is not presently endangered or vulnerable, but considered at risk.
  • Vulnerable - there is at least a 10% probability of extinction in the wild within 100 years.
  • Threatened - likely to become endangered within the near future throughout all or a significant portion of its range.
  • Endangered - there is at least a 20% chance of extinction in the wild in 20 years or five of its generations.
  • Critically Endangered - species faces a 50% chance of extinction in the wild within the next ten years or three of its generations.
