Subject: Wintry Weather causes
I'm sure all of you are aware of the record breaking wintry weather that is happening in Oklahoma. We wanted to give you an update on how things are at the sanctuary, as well as request for help, as this is causing unexpected expenses.
Prior to the beginning of every winter Linda makes sure that all generators are in good working condition for the indoor enclosures, and every monkey has access to an indoor enclosure. Linda has had to turn on the generators twice, but so far each time the power was only out for about 20 minutes. Surrounding areas have lost power for much longer periods of time than at the sanctuary. All of the monkeys are doing fine. Their twice daily feedings have not been interrupted, thanks to Linda's tireless efforts to walk on the ice and not trip over the many branches from tree damage all over the sanctuary. Linda is amazed at the intelligence of the monkeys. Even our newest arrivals, 2 former research monkeys from USCF who have never had to seek shelter before, immediately learned to go into their indoor enclosure for warmth.
The worst part of this storm for the sanctuary is that insurance will not cover removal of the trees and branches. We would appreciate any donations for this emergency relief effort. If anyone is willing to make a tax-deductible donation, our address is:

P.S. Did you know you could help us even more by going to and naming Mindys Memory Primate Sanctuary as your charity and every time you use it, the monkeys get a penny. Please tell all your friends too! Those pennies can really add up fast, if there are enough people doing it.
