On April 23, 1998, I received a female capuchin named MAGAN. She was brought to the sanctuary by the loving husband and son of Mar-Kay, who was terminally ill of cancer. Mar-Kay so loved Magan she wanted to see her placed in a home for the remainder of her years. Rather than keeping Magan and letting her family deal with her move after Mar-kay passed on, she unselfishly made the arrangements for her placement before starting her chemo treatments. No greater love can anyone give an animal than Mar-Kay had for Magan's welfare.

Magan was placed with two other young monkeys, named Alex and Maxine. They have been friends for one year, now. Alex and Maxine were a bonded pair, having been together since infancy. Even though Magan was accepted, she was still having to sleep without a buddy.
Things have changed for Magan, the sanctuary was able to rescue a female capuchin same age as she was (3 yrs) and they have become fast friends. They hug and groom one another and sit with arms intwined. Its a bonus for Sybill as well as Magan as Sybill was from a bad animal abuse case.
I'm sad to say, I was informed that Mar-Kay passed away on November 6 of 1998, I so wish she had lived to hear that Magan has an adopted sister, it would have made her very happy.
This is in tribute to Mar-Kay Mikeska - truly one of GOD'S angels!
